The outstanding ballet dancer and currently the head of the ballet company of the Kharkiv National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the People’s Artist of Ukraine - Svitlana Kolyvanova-Popesky
Graduate of the Kyiv Choreographic School, during the 1960-80s was the jewel of the Ukrainian and, in particular, Kharkiv ballet in stage and family duo with the People’s Artist of Ukraine T.Popesku, presenting the national art in many countries of the world. S.Kolyvanova was the first Ukrainian laureate of the International Competition of Ballet performers in Varna. The stage images of S.Kolyvanova were characterized by perfect classical technique and universalism in genres. Such of her stage images as Odette (“Swan Lake” by P.Tchaikovsky) or Giselle (in the eponymous ballet by A.Adan) won the sympathies of the audience by the finest lyricism. At the same time, in modern ballets “Carmen-suite” by G.Bizet and R.Schedrin, “The Young Lady and the Hooligan” by D.Shostakovich, “Stone Master” by V.Gubarenko the ballerina created diverse stage images with dramatic tension, perfecting the complex innovative techniques of the modern choreography.
Currently, S.Kolyvanova passes on her vast artistic experience to young performers and students of the choreographic department of the Kharkiv Art School.
